Applications for the academic year 2023/2024 are open!

Starting from the academic year 2023/2024, Humanitas University offers two opportunities per year to take the admission test for the degree course in Medicine and Surgery.

It is possible to register to one competition only, i.e. only last OR second-to-last year, depending on your geographical area and school year.

Both test sessions for the 2023/2024 intake will be held online on the following dates:

  • 1st test16-17 February 2023
  • 2nd test9-10 March 2023

Students may decide to take the test in one or both sessions available.

The final ranking will only consider the higher of the two scores obtained*.

 *for those who will have taken the admission test in both sessions.

Registration to the admission test takes place on MyPORTAL as follow:


1. MyPORTAL Registration

Fill in the MyPORTAL Registration Form with your personal data. You will then receive a confirmation email with your username and password to access your account and proceed with the application process.

2. Application

In order to complete the application procedure, you need to log in to your MyPORTAL account, using the username and password received via mail in the previous step. Proceed by selecting the Admission Test you wish to register to.

Candidates with any kind of disability are invited to make a formal request for the support they need in order to complete the test, by following the instructions detailed in the Art. 5 of the Call for Applications.

The HUMAT Test

In the HUMAT Test students are required to answer 60 multiple-choice questions with four response options in 120 minutes. 

The test is composed of two sections:

  1. Scientific thinking
  2. Academic literacy/Critical Thinking
1. Scientific thinking (30 questions)
Mathematical Thinking
Procedural Thinking
Visual Thinking
2. Academic literacy/Critical Thinking (30 questions)
Critical Thinking skills e.g. analysis, evaluation, inference, deductive skills, and inductive skills
Local expeditious reading, e.g. scanning and searching for specific details
Global expeditious reading, e.g. skimming for gist, searching for key ideas
Word- and sentence-level processes, e.g. word recognition, meaning of a preposition

Section 2, Academic Literacy, includes items that assess the candidate’s ability to understand and use information presented in a n academic text. These reading passages are selected on the basis that they exhibit the textual characteristics of quasi-scientific research papers, but crucially without the expectation that the candidate will have a deep knowledge or understanding of the topic of the text.
